Visceral fat, or belly fat, is a serious health problem. Studies have shown that excess visceral fat is linked to a higher risk of type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, heart disease and even certain cancers. A simple to make beverage consumed in the morning could help to shift your belly fat.

Health experts advise starting your day with a glass of lukewarm lemon water which can do wonders for your body.

The drink is packed with antioxidants and pectin fibre, which helps in melting the belly fat.

For added health benefits, drink the beverage on an empty stomach in the morning to boost your metabolism and burn belly fat.

Studies show that drinking enough water can potentially help increase your metabolism.

Researchers suggest that good hydration enhances the function of mitochondria, a type of organelle found in cells that helps generate energy for the body.

This leads to an increase in metabolism, which may lead to subsequent belly fat loss.

Drinking lemon water has also been shown to increase metabolism by inducing thermogenesis, a metabolic process in which calories are burned to produce heat.

Although lemon water can have a bit of a bitter taste, that’s good news for curbing some unhealthy cravings.

“Bitter foods are one tool to control sweet cravings,” said dietician Lauren Slayton, so this may help aid weight loss and help to control blood sugar levels.

“The more controlled our blood sugar, the better and steadier our energy is,” said Ms Slayton.

Diabetes UK states “water is the best all-round drink” if you want to keep blood sugar levels under control.

From carrying nutrients to cells to transporting waste out of the body, drinking enough water to stay hydrated is a critical component of health.

Maintaining adequate hydration is essential in everything from regulating body temperature to improving physical performance.

Some evidence also suggests that staying hydrated can aid in belly fat loss.

Research indicates that increased hydration may increase the breakdown of fats and enhance fat loss.

Visceral fat starts to cause health problems straight away.

It increases your risk of developing serious, long-term life-threatening medical conditions, including heart disease, high blood pressure, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, and strokes.

You should consider speaking to a doctor if your waist is more than 40 inches for men, or 35 inches for women.
