Coronavirus in Colorado, April 28: A look at the latest updates on COVID-19

On Monday, Coloradans moved into the “safer-at-home” phase of this pandemic and some businesses began to creak back to life. As part of that shift, public health officials released new guidelines yesterday for reopening the state that will remain in place until May 26.

Meanwhile, reporter John Aguilar headed to Douglas County, one of the only metro-area counties not to extend the stay-at-home order, to see how many people were out an about.

And while some parts of the state are no longer under the more strict stay-at-home order, Gov. Jared Polis now says that you shouldn’t venture more than 10 miles from your residence to recreate. That means no trips up to the mountains for Denverites.

As of Monday, the latest coronavirus case count stood at 706 deaths with more than 13,800 positive COVID-19 cases and nearly 2,500 people hospitalized.

Meanwhile, a free drive-by coronavirus test site was announced in Denver for Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
