New coronavirus testing sites opening outside Walmarts in Aurora and Westminster – The Denver Post

Officials in Aurora and Westminster are opening two free testing sites Friday for anyone showing symptoms of the new coronavirus as well as individuals in high-risk groups and first responders without symptoms.

Sites are being set up in Walmart parking lots at 7155 Sheridan Blvd. in Westminster and at 14000 E. Exposition Ave. in Aurora, a news release states.

The Aurora Walmart is the location that was shut down last month following a COVID-19 outbreak among staff that left three people dead.

The testing sites will be open beginning Friday to first responders, health care providers and others with symptoms of COVID-19 and those in high-risk groups without symptoms.

The sites will be open from 7 to 9 a.m. Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays every week. On Memorial Day, the site will be closed but will open instead on Tuesday.

Appointments must be made ahead of time through eTrueNorth’s online portal at DoINeedaCOVID19test.com.

Those being tested are required to wear a mask and stay in their cars as officials verify eligibility criteria, IDs and the self-administered test. Walk-ups will not be allowed, the news release said.

“The site will use a self-administered nasal swab test that will allow those being tested to swab their own nose onsite while in their vehicles, observed by a trained medical volunteer to ensure the sample is taken correctly, and then dropped in the sealed sample into a container on their way out of the drive-through site,” officials said.

Individuals will then be able to see their test results on the DoINeedaCOVID19test.com webpage. Average turnaround time is around 3 to 5 days from the day of collection, health officials said.

For questions regarding testing, people are encouraged to call 800-635-8611.
