Coronavirus in Colorado, April 24: A look at the latest updates on COVID-19 – The Denver Post

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock plans to announce today he will extend Denver’s stay-at-home order to May 8, even as much of the rest of the state will begin to see a relaxation next week of similar restrictions that had been designed to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the JBS beef packing plant in Greeley will reopen today, eight days after the plant was shut down because scores of workers were infected with the novel coronavirus and despite ongoing concerns for the safety of employees. About 1,600 employees will return to work Friday and Saturday, and about 3,000 on Monday as the plant restarts production at around 60% of its capacity, plant general manager Jay Rawlings said Thursday.

As of Thursday, the latest coronavirus case count stood at 552 confirmed deaths with more than 11,200 positive COVID-19 cases and 873 people currently hospitalized.
