6 children, 2 adults taken to hospital after people fall ill at eastern Pennsylvania school; similar incident happened in October

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Multiple people fell ill at Lehigh Christian Academy on Thursday morning, with six children and two adults taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment, emergency officials said.

Lehigh County Dispatch received a call at 9:36 a.m. reporting illnesses at the Salisbury Township school. The building was evacuated and parents were summoned to pick up their children.

The conditions of the people taken to the hospital were not immediately available. An LVHN spokeswoman confirmed that the hospital had received eight patients for treatment.

Indoor air quality tests showed “no obvious levels” of substances that were cause for concern, Salisbury Township police said in a statement, adding that the building has been closed and will be checked throughout the day.

This is the second time this school year that students left the school after falling ill. In October, the school was evacuated as a precaution after several students say they began to feel unwell. Multiple tests found no toxic chemicals or gases in the building.
