“Discovering that I was going to become a mother will forever be a moment where time stood still,” the Bindi the Jungle Girl alum, 22, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, September 1. “I took a test and ran into the kitchen where Chandler was making us tea. He didn’t hear me come in so I speechlessly watched him pouring the water into my most loved hedgehog mug. This news would change the course of our future in the best way. I started crying tears of pure joy and told my sweetheart husband that my test was positive.”
While she and the Florida native, 24, were “beaming” at the news, their puppy Piggy sat at their feet, Steve Irwin’s daughter went on to write.

“It reminded me of just how perceptive animals are,” Bindi added. “We sat together with tea talking about the future and how we were going to share such wonderful, life-changing news with the people that we love. In that short span of time, the gorgeous baby I’m carrying became the most important part of our lives.”
The couple announced last month that they’re starting a family, five months after tying the knot.
“We’re going to be parents,” Powell captioned his August Instagram announcement. “We have a baby Wildlife Warrior on the way coming in 2021. Becoming a dad is the highlight of my life. I cannot wait to embark on this new adventure and life chapter with my gorgeous wife.”
The dad-to-be told Bindi that she would be “the most amazing mother,” and she replied, “I love you more than words can describe.”

Powell’s brother, Cameron Powell, also has a baby on the way with his wife, Kristin, Us Weekly exclusively confirmed that same month.
“The Powell family is pretty torn up about the lockdown situation in Australia [amid the coronavirus pandemic] making it virtually impossible for any of the family to visit them [and] the baby when it comes, unless there’s a turnaround which seems unlikely right now,” a source shared at the time.
