Vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms: Three surprising signs you may be lacking vitamin B12
Vitamin B12 is incredibly important, because it helps produce DNA, nerve and blood cells, and is crucial for a healthy brain and immune system.
Nicknamed the energy vitamin, it even helps your metabolism run smoothly.
But many people find it hard to get enough vitamin B12.
In fact, it has been found 15% of people don’t get enough – especially vegetarians, vegans and adults over 50.
This means you have too few red blood cells, which carry oxygen around the body.
The best thing to do if you are experiencing any of these symptoms is to book an appointment to see your GP.
The NHS says: “These conditions can often be diagnosed based on your symptoms and the results of a blood test.
“It’s important for vitamin B12 or folate deficiency anaemia to be diagnosed and treated as soon as possible.
“This is because although many of the symptoms improve with treatment, some problems caused by the condition can be irreversible.”
