Colorado’s statewide mask mandate extended through Oct. 12

Gov. Jared Polis on Saturday extended the statewide mask mandate for 30 days in an executive order aimed at curbing the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Saturday’s order merely extends the state’s existing mask mandate, which requires everyone over the age of 11 to wear a non-medical face covering when in public indoor spaces. The statewide mandate was first put in place in July, and has been extended every 30 days since then.

The mandate is now set to expire Oct. 12, unless extended again. Polis has pointed to mask-wearing as an effective way to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, and said masks have been key to allowing the state to reopen as much as it has so far.
