Hoda Kotb Learned Mom Tips From Kathie Lee Gifford, Jenna Bush Hager
Watch and learn! When it comes to raising her daughters, Hoda Kotb picked up some tips from Kathie Lee Gifford and Jenna Bush Hager.
“With Jenna, I learned not to sweat the small stuff,” the You Are My Happy author, 54, told Us Weekly exclusively on Wednesday, May 29, at Sesame Worskhop’s 50th Anniversary Benefit Gala. “She’s like, ‘Don’t freak out, you’re not a bad mother because you forgot to do this or you didn’t do that.’ I think she kind of reminds you we’re all a little flawed. Don’t sweat it, don’t try to get it all right because you’re not going to get it right.”
The Today show host, who is a proud mom of Haley, 2, and Hope, 1 month, added: “One thing I learned from Kathie Lee is one of Haley’s first words or two words she says all the time, ‘Please’ or ‘Thank you.’ Those are big Kathie Lee words. Now, I’ll hand Haley her bottle and she’ll go, ‘Thank you, mama.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, my God.’”
Kotb’s former coanchor shares Cody, 29, and Cassidy, 25, with her late husband, Frank Gifford, while Hager has Margaret, 6, and Poppy, 3. She is expecting her third child with her husband, Henry Hager.
Both of the journalists visited the Kotb’s little ones after she adopted Hope in April. “BABY HOPE!!” Jenna captioned an Instagram post. “Best day ever!!! NOT ONE TEAR LEFT.”
Kotb told Us of Gifford, who left NBC last month, “She came over to visit and see the kids. She’s loving Nashville. She’s a country music freak, and she’s happy. All you want is for someone to be happy and she is. I miss her though. I really do.”
