Physical activity depends on the genes
Have an aversion to sports? This reluctance to be physically active may depend on your genes. Scientists from Oxford University conducted a study that revealed a genetic background in physical activity and sports people.
Specialists performed the genetic data analysis more than 90,000 people, the results of which they compared with the degree of sports activity. In the end, was discovered 14 genes that affect the degree of physical activity. According to scientists, the 7 genes from this series has not previously seen involved in this process.
The study found similarities in the lists of genes that affect the level of physical activity, and genes associated with neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.
“Doctors often talk about the importance of exercise for brain health. Discovered genes under certain external factors can lead to a whole set of problems”, – said the authors of the project.
In the preliminary research, the experts came to the opinion that the reluctance to exercise may be due to the fact that the person has high intelligence. This reluctance, scientists have linked a property of the brain to save energy for more useful, from his point of view, mental training.
