Athleisure darling P.E. Nation is officially the first Aussie brand to collaborate with fashion juggernaut H&M on a more sustainable collection.
Founders Pip Edwards and Claire Tregoning told Women’s Health they were “in shock” when they were approached by the Swedish retail company and the partnership is a huge win for Australian fashion.
“It happened quite seamlessly, super easily and with both brands being super excited,” Edwards says.
When designing the range – which features clothes, swimwear, undergarments and accessories – Tregoning says they reflected on their brand’s DNA.
“Because this was an opportunity to get to global eyeballs who had never seen the brand before, it was about a bit of a retrospect of our best sellers, what we know is tried and tested and where we’ve had wins,” Edwards added. “It was a beautiful, organic process.”
From leggings to bum bags – you can expect the brand’s classic colour blocking, zip details and large logos with their distinctive retro vibe.
“It’s been a lot of fun collaborating with P.E Nation – the teamwork and energy between them and our designers was great!” Maria Östblom, head of womenswear design at H&M said in a statement. “Pip and Claire know first-hand about the need for activewear in all aspects of daily life as female entrepreneurs and cofounders of such a dynamic lifestyle brand. They are fantastic role models and super inspiring themselves.”
The collection also focuses on using more sustainable materials including organic cotton and recycled polyester.
“It’s very important to us, I think everyone needs to jump on the sustainable journey,” Tregoning says.
The collection will be available in stores worldwide as well as on hm.com from March 5th.
