Looking for some new strength goals? To kick off 2020, strongman Eddie Hall has shared a video on his YouTube channel chronicling the 10 most impressive feats of strength in the deadlifting category in the entire world (or at least, the current record holders).

Starting the list at 10 is Brian Shaw, who lifted 464 kgs, or 1,020.8 pounds, on the elephant bar at the Arnold Strongman Classic in 2016. Next up at 9 is Jerry Pritchett with a lift of 465 kgs (1,023 pounds) on a standard bar at Giants Live 2016.

Number 8 is Lamar Grant, who lifted 305 kgs (672 pounds) on a standard bar in 1988. While this initially seems like less of an accomplishment than the other entries on the list, it’s worth noting that at a bodyweight of just 132 pounds, Grant was the first person in the world to ever deadlift five times their own bodyweight.

7 is Ivan Makarov, who deadlifted 470 kgs (1,034 pounds) on the standard bar in 2018. In at number 6 is Žydrūnas Savickas, better known simply as Big Z, who lifted 525 kgs (1,155 pounds) on hammer tyres at the Arnold in 2014.

Number 5 is Hafthor Bjornsson, better known as “The Mountain,” with a deadlift of 474 kgs (1,042.8 pounds) on the elephant bar at the Arnold in 2019. Number 4 is Eddie Hall himself, lifting 472.5 kgs (1,039.5 pounds) on the elephant bar at the World’s Strongest Man competition in 2016.

First up on the Top 3 is Andy Bolton, who lifted 457.5 kgs (1,06.5 pounds), officially the first man to deadlift over 1,000 pounds. Number 2 is Benedikt Magnusson, with a deadlift of 460 kgs (1,015 pounds) on the standard bar, without the aid of a strap or suit.

Number 1 is, perhaps unsurprisingly given the source of the video, Eddie Hall again, deadlifting 500 kgs (1,100) pounds at Europe’s Strongest Man in 2016. He was the first man to lift 500 kgs, setting the current record.
