YouTuber MattDoesFitness has tried plenty of workouts and diets in his videos before, like the time he ate and trained like a Victoria’s Secret model for a day, which involved cutting his food intake drastically. But how might he fare if he had to triple or quadruple what he was eating?
When Matt meets up with former World’s Strongest Man title holder Eddie Hall, the pair decide to swap diets and order each other’s meals: Matt will eat like a professional strongman, while Eddie will reduce his calories. They’re also spending the day training together, meaning Matt has to eat strongman levels of food before taking on the gauntlet of strongman exercises Eddie has laid out for him, including the log press, super yoke, tire flip and Atlas stones.
Breakfast for Matt usually consists of a bowl of cereal, but today Eddie orders him a cornucopia of protein: 3 rashers of bacon, 3 sausages, 2 eggs, beans, tomatoes, black pudding, hash browns, and toast, accompanied by a hot chocolate and 2 glasses of juice. Eddie, meanwhile, gets a cheeseburger, a few slices of toast with jam, and a latte, which Matt considers to be more than enough food to start the day.
Matt’s immediate concern is that even if he manages to eat everything in front of him, he’ll be so full that he won’t be physically able to do anything for several hours. Which is bad news, as they’re hitting the gym after breakfast.
“As a strongman, you have to train on a full stomach,” says Eddie, who by his own calculations eats around 2 kgs of food at each mealtime. “If you don’t throw up or sh*t yourself, you’re not trying hard enough.”

Eddie says that a “true strongman” would stop halfway through a training session to eat again. So after the log press portion of their workout, he orders in a toasted ham and cheese sandwich for a reluctant Matt to tuck into.”To be honest, that is actually quite small,” says Eddie. “I’d usually have a foot-long Subway.”
Once their training session is over, it’s time for lunch at a fried chicken restaurant, where Eddie orders Matt a “family mega bucket” of chicken with fries and coleslaw and a 4 litre bottle of coke. “This is ridiculous,” Matt says. “There’s no way even you is eating this.” Matt retaliates by getting Eddie an order of the spiciest chicken nuggets in the place (drenched in hot sauce), which he easily finishes. Matt, by Eddie’s estimate, eats about an eighth of his bucket.
For Eddie, dessert at home consists of half a family cheesecake, so he orders three slices for Matt, with three scoops of ice cream and another hot chocolate, while Matt pranks Eddie by getting him a party-sized sundae as revenge, coupled with a double espresso, knowing how sensitive he is to caffeine.
By the time the final meal comes around, both guys are retaliating by ordering each other the largest, spiciest pizzas on the menu, which Matt barely manages to force down after his epic day of eating. Fortunately, for our sakes, the bathroom consequences of this ill-advised dietary switcheroo were not caught on camera.
