Eight world-class strength athletes are getting ready to showcase their skills while in quarantine — without weights. The official World’s Strongest Man competition might have been postponed until November in light of the pandemic, but they’ll be putting their training to good use in the meantime by competing in World’s Strongest Man: Home Edition, a special series which will stream every Monday on Snapchat Discover throughout May, June and July.
Each episode will pit two strongmen against each other in a specific event, such as deadlift or farmer’s walk, and it is then up to the guys to complete that move with as much imagination and flair as possible, lifting furniture, pets, cars, kids — nothing is off limits. At the end of the episode, fans will vote for their favorites based on innovation as well as strength performance, and the series will conclude with the two highest-voted athletes facing off against each other for a $10,000 prize.
World’s Strongest Man: Home Edition will be hosted by Eddie Hall, who won the title of World’s Strongest Man in 2017. “I can’t wait for the fans to see the creativity these guys bring to the table,” said Hall. “I’ve been wondering how the athletes have been getting ready for the World’s Strongest Man competition in November, and many will be without a gym right now. It will be fun to see how they stay in shape somehow!”

Self-proclaimed World’s Strongest Gay, Rob Kearney, is one of the eight strongmen competing, and he is keen for people to see the fun side of the sport.
“This really get us athletes to show our personalities more than we might get to during an intense competition, where the stakes are high,” he told Men’s Health. “Being able to just have fun with an event will show everyone that yeah, we might be intimidating-looking, but at the core we’re just fun-loving people who happen to be big and strong and lift heavy stuff.”
Kearney, who holds the American record for heaviest log press (471 pounds), will be showing off his improvised overhead press in the first episode of the competition, which viewers will be able to see on Discover on Monday May 11. The other strongman who’ll be deadlifting, carrying and pressing random household objects are Eddie Williams, Robert Oberst, Luke Stoltman, Adam Bishop, Nick Best, Rongo Keene, and Evan Singleton.
“I think the coolest thing about this, with it being on Snapchat, it really does open the door to a whole new demographic other than your ‘average’ strongman fan,” Kearney said. “This was really an importunity to bring strongman into the mainstream during quarantine, to have a little fun, lift everybody’s spirits, put smiles on people’s faces, and have fun with some of my fellow competitors.”
