Aw! The Mindy Project's Mindy Kaling and Ike Barinholtz's Kids Hang Out
Too cute! The Mindy Project alum Mindy Kaling and Ike Barinholtz’s kids are best buds — just like their parents.
“Our daughters are friends,” the actor, 42, told Us Weekly exclusively at the Late Night premiere on Thursday, May 30. “It’s so adorable on their playdates, we get sent pictures of them.”
The MADtv alum joked: “They write a comedy show together. They’re 1-year-olds, so the material sucks. They can’t even talk. The show’s bad. We are doing eight episodes of Netflix, we’re just going to see what happens.”
In all seriousness, Barinholtz, who shares daughters Foster, 5, Payton, 2, and a 13-month-old whose name has yet to be released, with his wife, Erica Hanson, went on to say that “it’s a joy watching Mindy as a mother.”
Part of that comes from how capable the Office alum is. “Mindy’s always been able to handle a ton,” the Illinois native told Us. “I remember when we’d be in the writers’ room, she’d be like, ‘I have to go to a wardrobe fitting,’ and then she’d call and be like, ‘Hey, one thing about that joke.’ … She’s like a polymath. It’s amazing.”
The actress, 39, welcomed her 17-month-old daughter, Katherine, in December 2017, and her former costar isn’t the only one who thinks the Why Not Me? author is doing an incredible job.
When asked if she’s always a calm, cool and collected single mom, Late Night star Reid Scott told Us exclusively, “In my experience? Yes. And it’s starting to freak me out. I don’t know how. She looks amazing. She’s always so chilled out and zened out. I don’t know what’s going on inside there, but I want some.”
Scott’s children, Conrad, 4, and Damon, 16 months, also spend time with Katherine. “My littlest boy [and] her daughter are in this really sweet music class together where they just dance and toddle around,” the Veep alum told Us. “It’s really cute.”
