Singer Kid Ink has worked with some of the biggest artists in music—Lil Wayne, Ty Dolla Sign, Usher, to name a few—but when it comes to staying fit, he’s a one-man machine. The 34-year-old invited Men’s Health into his Los Angeles home for an inside look at his gym and fridge to find out how he fuels his body to stay in performance-ready shape—and his secret to staying motivated in the gym.
And, as it turns out, the singer hates leg day, too! “A glute workout is too much,” he said. Most weeks, the singer works out six days, leaving a seventh for recovery. And he doesn’t need a whole lot of equipment in his home gym to accomplish his goals. “Pull-ups, push-ups, dips, bench press,” he said. “That’s all you need.”
And when he’s struggling to find his motivation, he turns to an unlikely place. “I look at the mirror and see what I need to work on or I look in the mirror and say, ‘hey, if I do this for another week, this is going to be solid.'”
As for his fridge, Kid Ink keeps it simple: Gatorade, coconut water, and eggs usually line his shelves. (He’s also big on seafood: “Shrimp, lobster, bottom feeders, as my mom would call them.”) But he does indulge from time to time—champagne, cereal, and cookies are his admitted weaknesses. “Chocolate chip cookies go fast,” he said. “I could usually clean out a tote from McDonalds in like an hour.”
Stars, they’re just like us!
