How to make sanitiser wipes at home
The coronavirus outbreak has prompted panic-buying, with many supermarkets and pharmacies cleared of essential items. Products such as hand sanitiser and disinfectant have been in high demand.
But it is not only the sale of hand sanitiser which has been increasing in recent weeks.
A number of hospitals in the UK have reported theft of hand sanitiser on their wards.
The current guidance from the NHS is to wash your hands with soap and water often, for at least 20 seconds, to help prevent the infection spreading.
The NHS only advises people to use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water is not readily available.

How to make hand sanitiser at home
If you are looking for hand sanitiser and wipes, it is best to purchase them from your local store or online.
But if for any reason you cannot get hold of these items, there are some examples of recipes for hand sanitiser and wipes on the internet.
However, many of these recipes will not be effective in killing coronavirus.
The final concentration of alcohol/ethanol in a sanitiser mixture is recommended to be above 60 percent by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Lower strength formulas will not be effective enough to kill the virus on the hands.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has a sanitizer concentrate available.
A word of caution though, the guidance is intended to be followed by a medical professional with the proper expertise, who can create the mixture safely.
